CitizensNYC: LIVE Impact Summit
WEDNESDAY, October 19 9AM - 3PM
Our one-day Impact Summit is bringing together grassroots community leaders, academics, elected officials, and community residents around the theme of Public Safety, to share the richness of time, talent, and treasure for the public good of New York City. This Summit will connect community leaders who are doing the work with strategists and resources to advance public safety in New York City as we continue to emerge from the pandemic.
9:00am – 9:15am Introduction: Opening Remarks
9:15am – 9:30am Keynote Talk: Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg
9:30am - 10:25am Education and Community
Panelists will discuss education and cohesiveness of community’s role in enhancing public safety, how their absence leads to a lack of public safety, what panelists and their organizations are doing to advance education and build community and provide strategies and solutions to improve public safety.
10:30am – 11:15am Housing and Physical Environment
Panelists will discuss the importance of being housed and physical (green space) as they relate to public safety, how their absence contributes to public safety, what panelists and their organizations are doing to mitigate homelessness and increase public green space and strategies and solutions to improve public safety.
11:15am – 11:30am Break: Stretch and Coffee
11:30am – 12:15pm Physical and Mental Health
Panelists will address the increased physical and mental health challenges and the uptick in public safety, how they have exacerbated public safety challenges, what panelists and their organizations are doing to address physical and mental health and strategies and solutions to improve public safety.
12:20pm – 1:05pm Stability and Personal Safety
Panelists will address the importance of stability and personal safety relative to public safety, what panelists and their organizations are doing to create or contribute to conditions of stability and personal safety, and strategies and solutions to improve public safety.
1:10pm – 1:55pm Economic and Food Security
Panelists will discuss the role economic and food insecurity play in stabilizing communities and public safety, why the absence of economic and food security have a destabilizing impact on public safety, what panelists and their organizations are doing to mitigate economic and food insecurity and provide strategies and solutions to improve public safety.
2:10pm – 2:55pm Investigative Reporting on Public Safety
This panel will feature Elinor Tatum, Publisher and Editor in Chief of the Amsterdam News being interviewed by Dr. Rahsaan Harris ( and possibly an AmNews reporter such as ). The panel will discuss investigative reporting on public safety, specifically the “Beyond the Barrel” project.
